A full renovation and contemporary extension to a modest bungalow property in the greenbelt.
The extension celebrates the existing pitched form creating a spectacular vaulted living space with an expressed glulam timber structure.
An inset glazed roof light separates the existing structure, with traditional brick and clay tiled roof, from the new zinc wrapped extension. This generates a clear distinction between the two elements whilst also bringing natural light into the middle of the plan. The integrated patio and planters help to ground the new extension into the lush greenbelt landscape.
This project utilised prefabricated construction methods to reduce the construction programme.
Our client could have added a simple rear extension, but they wanted something more which reflected their innate desire to have both a functional space as well as one which was dramatic and unique.
We love the blend of materials to form a contemporary home, which proves that a simple country bungalow doesn't have to be dull.
