With Covid more under control we were delighted to return to the office working. The office was buzzing once again with the team back at their desks. You realise how important this is for us to flourish as a creative bunch and there was an instant impact on collaborative working.
The long period of remote working and Covid restrictions meant we also were not able to undertake our usual team socials, so we made the most of the restrictions slowly lifting and the team being back together.
We kicked things off with a social to celebrate Megan’s contributions to the studio. She had actually relocated to the West country earlier in the year and we were delighted to see her back to wish her all the best with a good send off. The team did a walkaround of a couple of her projects and then we all went over to Topgolf to have a bit of fun with golf clubs and drinks. The evening, we ended up at a local pub, and it was wonderful to be out of the office and relaxing as a team.
We also had to say ‘good bye’ to a long standing team member; Chris Cowap, who has been with us from the early days when we set up the studio. Chris joined us a young apprentice learning on the job and his confidence as a technologist grew as the studio evolved from a small startup to a design led studio with a reputation for delivering exceptional homes. We looked back at the range of projects Chris has undertaken and it was wonderful to see hoe far he has come in his time with us. We celebrated by hiring Chiliboats on the River Thames in the day. the weather was on side and we all turned into teams taking out these amazing gadgets which are a cross between a pedal bikes and a kayak. In traditional C8 form, we turned the event into a competition with a race to see who could be the fastest. We congratulated Ryan on his win. In the evening we went for a lovely team meal at the Minnow riverside pub. We wish Chris and his new wife; Ruth as they move to Thailand to start a new life together.
